Well I just moved to port Arthur tx..and we are renting in some expensive apartments…very clean and all…we bought new everything …new mattress box spring tables living room set…we have been living here for 1 months and my daughter of a yr and half seems to have bed bug bites…can I still have them even though the furniture is new…oh yea we have carpet…not sure if it was new when we moved in ….pls someone answer me because i cant see to get info in any other website !!! Pls!!Diana,I too just moved into a new apartment, a very nice, expensive one in Port Arthur Texas. I did have a bed and no history of bed bugs. Bought a new couch... I don't even own a dresser. I had them within a month of moving in. I have since thrown out everything I own and moved out (Moved out with nothing to prevent carrying them.) They made me pay for the extermination (which the majority of the signs were in the baseboards) and I am paying an exorbitant amount to get out of my lease. I just wonder if we are experiencing the same infestation. And if so, we should not be held to wasting our savings on getting out of it.

TO THE PERSON THAT POSTED THIS:
diana on July 25th, 2011 at 4:29 am
Well I just moved to port Arthur tx..and we are renting in some expensive apartments…very clean and all…we bought new everything …new mattress box spring tables living room set…we have been living here for 1 months and my daughter of a yr and half seems to have bed bug bites…can I still have them even though the furniture is new…oh yea we have carpet…not sure if it was new when we moved in ….pls someone answer me because i cant see to get info in any other website !!! These bites will not appear after u woke up. It can happen during a day.
I also thought I've got some allergy...while they were living with me approximately 6 months.
Guys if u have problems and want to solve it yourself, so buy one really strong spray KAPO choc!!! I was fighting with them 3 days every day from morning till evening. Then did it again after one week. Its needed to throw out furniture which can be their "home". I changed 2 beds and mattresses. Those who are ready to suffer or don't want to throw their furniture - it will take more time, 'cause of eggs.
One more thing, my friend has them and we both know she does, but she claims there are no bites, spots on her body. These insects are crazy and clever.
So, good luck.
P.S. Do not waste your time!

I had them some time ago. These bites will not appear after u woke up. Our bunks were up against a wood-paneled wall. I was almost asleep and kept feeling something on my neck - it was a prickly feeling, kind of like when you get your hair cut and it "pricks" your neck where the loose hair falls onto your neck. But, it also had a very slight sting to it. I finally got up and turned the flash light on my bed. There were several bugs on my pillow. I have another pillow - dark in color and it was covered with tiny, tiny, pin-head sized white dots that moved!
The people from the retreat camp came right over and investigated it. They said they were beg bugs. They looked like ticks to me - ones that weren't engorged. They were very flat and pretty easy to crush.
My question - My roommate and I both FELT the bites - all I've been reading today say you don't feel it - just wake up and find bites! AND I have NO welts or bites that I can see, nor does the other girl. So were these really bedbugs?? I did break out in hives from my toes to my chin (within about 1/2 hour of the bites, but I guess that could have been from the stress of it all. I have had no other reactions.

I was at a retreat this weekend and there were 5 in the room but only 2 of us got bit. I had just that situation happen to me when I was three months pregnant!! My husband was sure it had to do with the pregnancy until one day he said "hey, what itches on my back?" and he had a line of three welts. Now, I had them all over my legs, arms, abdomen, neck, and starting my face at this point.. in rows of two and three and over 10 new ones a night!! It only took the appearance of ONE crawling on the bed that I saw one day and that was it !! I had the ALLERGIC REACTION... HE did NOT. At my in-laws, my husband saw one crawling on his brother's shirt. NO ONE in the house was being bitten. It's my belief that he brought them home from there.
Now.. almost EXACTLY 18 months later and I have a son turning a year old in weeks to come.. I honestly believe they are back. The treatment we used merely "scared" them into their hibernation until starvation. Now they are feeding on my SON !! I saw two good sized welts on his face the other morning !! I think last time, since I focused on our bedroom, they "retreated" to the further points. We hadn't set up the nursery yet. Now that's where they are. Vacuuming, steaming, dryer at high temps, and D-Earth.. trying it again. This whole thing plays so much with your mind !! But.. bite my baby??!!! Not getting away with that !!

To answer some of what people have been asking: yes, two people can be sleeping in a bed and just ONE will get bitten up severely. Actually, having several bites in a row is a sign of bed bugs. They do the same thing, bite and walk, bite and walk, and so on until full. The older/bigger the bug the more bites you will have.

Dustin… Actually, having several bites in a row is a sign of bed bugs. We are constantly checking their beds/rooms out and vacuuming as well. However, we've spent the past week sleeping in our daughters room. Is this a bad idea? Do we need to be staying in our room to draw them out?

Also, we’ve yet to see any bites on our kids in their 3 rooms over the past month since our bedroom got infested. Being paranoid of bugs, it sat in the garage until July 2nd. I did a very close inspection of the cushions, the seams, the foam inside the cushions, and the underside of it before bringing it up to my apartment. It has a heavy cover on it. I have slept on this couch from time to time and lain on it at night and had no problems, so I thought everything was ok.A week ago I found an itchy bump on my hip when I woke up that has since become a pinkish welt, and today I woke up with a line of 4 bumps/welts on my chest (the third of the 4 bumps seems to be a series of smaller bumps very close to each other). Terrified of bed bugs, the mattresses and box springs of the bed were inspected and we saw nothing. My fiance is not having any itchy bumps (he has also slept on the couch). Is it possible that it took that long for (assuming it is) bed bugs to start biting me? Why wouldn't they have attacked from the couch?

On June 13th, we brought a couch in from the road (had been outside approx 30 minutes, no other furniture near it). Cindy, yes you can see them.. there are many pictures on this site that show them in their different stages. Robert, no they do not affect children more than adults. However, different people react to them differently, they release a numbing agent when they bite and that it what a lot of people have an allergic reaction (which is what happens when you welt up and itch) so your child may be allergic to the numbing agent. My fiance and I sleep in the same bed, and when we had them I got attacked every night and would have up to 20 bites on one arm, and we could not see one on him. It just depends on how you react to them.

ok.. bed bugs DO NOT carry Hepatitis B.. just to clear that up. Started noticing the red bumps as website describes a few days after arriving home. Could the bumps be showing up later and/or did I bring the bugs back with me? I have washed and cleaned today as much as possible. What do you think? Is there a chance I left the bugs there? Thanks- L

Just back from 11 days in a condo on Hawaii. Started noticing the red bumps as website describes a few days after arriving home. Those mattress covers do work.. try looking in it now and see if there are any in there? Dont let her sleep anywhere but there because they will follow the body heat. We used Bed Bug spray and bombs.. so far so good!!

Diana.. if she has stayed somewhere, or a hotel, or went anywhere she could of brought them back. Because from what I heard, bed bugs might play a role in the spread of hepatitis B. Very serious disease caused by tiny creatures. I just moved into a new apartment, and a few days after my stuff arrived from the moving truck I started noticing bites on my body. I first got 1 big welt on my left arm and then 3 or 4 bites in a row on my right arm. I also had 4 bites going up my left leg. The bites look like mosquito bites - red raised welts that itch. What makes me suspect bed bugs is that they often are in groups. (I noticed them 5 days ago and they stopped itching 2 days ago).
For the last two days I didn't notice any bites, but today I woke up with a bunch: two on my left foot and one on my left ankle, one on my left thigh, and one on the back of my left upper arm. They're pretty far apart from each other (other than the ones on my foot an ankle) but they are all on the left side of my body.My boyfriend who lives with me has not noticed any bites and we sleep in the same bed, however, I know that some people do not show any reaction to bed bug bites.I checked my mattress (which is new) and bedsheets and did not see any bug feces or exoskeletons, but I guess it's possible I have a small infestation that is about to get worse, or the bugs could just be hiding elsewhere.Does this sound like bed bugs? Thanks for your help!

Hi,
I just moved into a new apartment, and a few days after my stuff arrived from the moving truck I started noticing bites on my body. This is a bit of a pet peeve of mine; but spider bites are actually rather uncommon. Unforunatly, people develop an unexplained rash and jump to the conclusion that i the vast majority of spides are just too small to even t was caused by a spider. Even doctors will diagnose an unexplained rash as a spider bite just to give a diagnosis. Unless the culprit is actually found, a spider should be your last thought! Remember that most spider species do not leave their webs and that the vast majority of them are too small to even open their mouth parts wide enough to bite us at all, let alone to break the skin. Think other invert bites or stings or even staph infections first!

As I was reading through the comments, I noticed that many initial reactions to the rash was spider bites.
